Bollywood actor Ali Fazal has been announced as the goodwill ambassador of a charity organization called Smile Train that works for the cause of children welfare. He joins Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in becoming a part of this journey.
Smile Train helps young children with cleft lips to get their confidence back by repairing their clefts. The charity helps them by finding a sustainable solution with cleft reconstructive surgeries.
Ali inaugurated a new project by the charity at the SRCC Hospital in Mumbai where he met with several children with the cleft lip problem. Speaking at the event, Ali said, “If you Google cleft surgery, you’ll understand the depth and body of work Smile Train alone has put into this awareness. It is a correctable surgery. And I am so proud to be the new ambassador leading this along with a wonderful team of Smile Train India and Global. In India, over 35,000 children are born with a cleft in a year. And this can be treated if they have the information.”
He added, “The organisation has tied up with many hospitals over the years. I hope to keep this machinery working as it has been with immaculate efficiency and power. There are great many issues to be solved on many humanitarian levels. This is one. And when we all do our bits and our parts, the world is a better place.”
This is not the first time when Ali has extended his help towards kids as he has previously too helped young kids from Shillong and Lucknow to learn more tricks in football and get them ready for the games. When not busy with shoots, he even coaches kids in basketball, considering he is a sports buff.
Ali recently wrapped the shoot of Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Milan Talkies’.
