'Dhadak' co-stars Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter confirm they know what is first love!

Marking her debut with a complex love story, Janhvi Kapoor was in Delhi with co-star Ishaan Khatter for promotions of her film. 'Dhadak' will release on July 20 nationwide.
There’s something special about Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter and their romance. Taking their first step in the Hindi entertainment industry with Dhadak, technically second for Ishaan as he debuted with Majid Majidi’s Beyond The Clouds,the two look like a fresh and young Bollywood couple that means business with their first mega-budget commercial film that is a “coming-of-age-tale” of two star-crossed lovers with a twist. While promoting Dhadak in New Delhi, Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter spoke about the film’s true essence, the hard work that went into making it and what they like in one another.
Speaking about Dhadak being an important film, Ishaan said, “It’s a universal film with an important message. It’s for the socially conscious, (basically) for all movie lovers,” adding that he is waiting for people to have a conversation around it after it releases.
A remake of hit Marathi film Sairaat, that captured the hearts of millions, both Ishaan and Janhvi feel that Dhadak will chart its own course.When asked if Janhvi felt bogged down by obvious comparisons between the two movies, she said that it’s “an adaptation and has no scene-to-scene copy.” Also see:Ahead of 'Dhadak' release, a look at why 'Sairat' was a game changer in India
She said that she feels no such pressure at all.
Continuing a romance with their film, Janhvi added that both the actors put in a lot of hard work. Since the film is based on inhabitants of Rajasthan, they adapted Mewari dialect and did rigorous reading lessons to get the language and tone right for their characters.
They fell in love with their characters and it’s evident from the way they talk about them.
Janhvi mentioned the first time she had to enact a scene with barely a few lines -- when she felt “everything was right “and that “this is where she was supposed to be.”
On another note, both admitted to having experienced first love when they were asked about it but Janhvi refrained from telling what love in a definition would mean as she called it "emotional", one that she could write an essay on and was difficult to summarise in a line.
When asked what they like about each other, Ishaan went on with a long list and said, “she is sincere, humorous, innocent and I can go on” to which Janhvi gleefully responded with “I am bored with this answer.”
As the two young actors prepare to know “what the audience will feel like once they exit from the theatre”, we hope that this chemistry between the two shines on-screen as much as it does off-screen.
