As Daniel Craig gets ready to bid goodbye to his iconic character James Bond in future films, post his exit from the franchise (after he appears one last time in ‘Bond 25’), makers are now looking for an actor to replace him.

Some earlier reports suggested that makers were considering Idris Elba for the role but the star denied being approached for the role.

In an interesting twist to the plot, actor Dominic West has now suggested that the characters should now be a transgender Bond. He said, “Maybe a transgender Bond would be cool.”

Dominic made the suggestion during an interview with The Sunday Times as he promoted his role in the new ‘Les Miserables’ adaptation. He said that his involvement with the indie film ‘Colette’ helped inspire the idea. In ‘Colette’, Dominic stars opposite Keira Knightley and Jake Graf, a transgender actor who played a cis male character in the movie.

During the interview, when he was asked how he would like the idea of Daniel Craig being replaced with Tom Hardy, Dominic said: “I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond. I’d be happy to see him do it. You need an actor who can put a bit of wiggle into it – that’s what makes Bond.”

‘Bond 25’ will go into production in 2019. It will be Daniel’s last outing as the famous spy. The film will open in theaters on February 14, 2020.
