India rode on Abhishek Sharma's 100, Ruturaj Gaikwad's 77* and Rinku Singh's unbeaten 48 to post 234/2 in the second T20I versus Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club, Harare on Sunday (Jul7). In the run-chase, Sikandar Raza-led side got dismissed for 134 in 18.4 overs as the five-match series is now tied at 1-1. While there were plenty of fireworks during the Indian inningscourtesy of centurion Abhishek, even Rinku made his presence felt and went berserk in the last two overs. In the final 12 deliveries, the left-hander struck 4 sixes and a four to bolster India's score after they opted to bat first.
Rinku struck at a mammoth 218.18 but the Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) onslaught in the late overs made heads turn. Here is the video of his fireworks -
At the post-match presentation, stand-in captain Shubman Gill said, "Very happy, great to be back on the winning note back again. With the way Abhishek and Rutu batted, it was not easy especially in the powerplay, with the ball moving around but Abhi and Rutu built the innings brilliantly. Yesterday, it was more about not being able to handle the pressure, it's a young side and many of them are new to international exposure. It was actually good to have pressure in the first game and we knew what to expect coming into this game."
The third T20I will be held at the same venue on Wednesday (Jul10).
