In what was a hard-fought victory, the Afghan side had to dig deep to find the resources to topple the Bangla Tigers. Batting first on a tacky wicket, Afghanistan only posted 115runs after some disciplined bowling effort from Bangladesh. The Afghan side may not even have crossed 100 if it wasn't for the late cameo of their captain who smashed 19 runs in 10 balls.
Defending the total, Fazalhaq Farooqi dropped the first blood by trapping Tanzid Hasan plumb in front of the wickets with a banana-swing delivery.Naveen-ul-Haq added to Bangladesh's woes by striking twice in the third over - dismissing skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and Shakib A Hasan in the process.
Afterwards, it was all about picking wickets at regular intervals and Rashid Khan stepped up here as well. He signed off with figures reading 4/23 and ensured that Afghanistan etched their name in the history books.
