New Delhi, India
Former South Africa pacer Morne Morkel has backed Virat Kohli to regain form ahead of India's Super 8 clash versus Afghanistan, at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Thursday (June 20). Kohli has scored just five runs in three outings in the 20-nation tournament, being held in West Indies and the USA. However, Morkel feels Kohli is a 'class player' and will 'find ways to score runs at the right time'.
Ahead of the India-Afghanistan tie, Morkel told Star Sports, "Don’t worry about Virat. Class players find a way to score runs at the right time. If I was a bowler, I would be nervous to bowl to him upfront. He is a guy who can rotate the strike, put your good balls away from a four. I am excited to see how he goes. He always finds an answer and I just love watching him play."

Kohli looked a pale shadow of himself in the group stage, where Rohit Sharma-led India beat Ireland, Pakistan and the USA before their Canada face-off got washed out. So far, he has managed just 1, 4 and 0 in three outings and will be desperate to get going in the Super 8s. He has a solid record versus Afghanistan in T20Is, amassing 201 runs in five innings at an average of 67 with a best of 122 not out.
India are placed in Group 1 in the Super 8s along with Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Australia.
