IPL 2024: VIDEO | RCB's Dinesh Karthik hits 108-metre six vs SRH, ball lands on stadium roof

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Dinesh Karthik hit a 108-metre-long six - the biggest of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season on Monday (April 15). Karthik hit the six during his 35-ball 83-run innings against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). In total, Karthik smashed seven sixes on a night which saw 38 maximums being hit in the match - the joint-most in a T20 game.

Karthik hit the six off SRH's T Natarajan on the first ball of the 16th over. It was a length ball outside the leg stump which Karthik sent to the midwicket region and the ball went onto the roof of the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. Have a look at the video below:

The match was a nightmare for bowlers with 549 runs being scored by both teams together - the highest ever for a T20 match. Batting first, SRH broke their own record of highest total in an IPL innings as they posted 287/3 in 20 overs.

For Hyderabad, Travis Head scored a magnificent 41-ball 102 while Heinrich Klassen hit a 31-ball 67. Towards the end, Abdul Samad scored 37 not out off just 10 balls as four RCB bowlers went for 50 or more runs in four overs - a first in T20 cricket.

Chasing the record total, RCB started off with a blaze as Virat Kohli and Fafdu Plessis scored 80 runs in 6.1 overs before Mayank Markande clean-bowled Kohli with a googly. RCB always needed something special to win the game but once Kohli departed, the chase derailed.

They were soon 122/5 at midway when Karthik and Mahipal Lomror took over. The duo added 59 runs in 25 balls to give RCB a sniff but the target was too much to handle. RCB, even though posted the highest total in a chase, fell short by 25 runs despite scoring 262/7.
