Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Jos Buttler cited Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni as example after pulling off one of the greatest chases in the T20 history. Buttler scored 107 not out to take RR home against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on April 16 in a chase of 224. The game looked done and dusted when RR needed 96 off last six overs but Buttler stood tall till the end to win in for Rajasthan.

Speaking after the match, Buttler said: “We have seen Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni staying till the end and finishing the matches. I just applied the same tonight."

Notably, Kohli had done the same for India in 2022 ICC T20 World Cup against Pakistan in Melbourne, Australia. India, however, needed 48 of last three overs against RR's 46. Buttler was 62 off 42 balls and end of 17th over and went on to score all the remaining runs in the last three overs.

The batter, however, agreed that he was struggling early in the innings but kept believing in himself.

"I felt like I was struggling a bit for rhythm. I've been watching golf and I saw a guy called Max Homa. Anytime the negative thoughts come, I think the complete opposite and dare to dream," said Buttler.

RR skipper Sanju Samson also praised the opener and said: "Jos did what he does for us from last six-seven years, his knock should go right on top. Being an opener, if Jos gets in, we all know in the dugout that he'll be there till the 20th over. If he's batting till the 20th over, no runs are un-chaseable."

This was also the joint-highest chase ever in the IPL with the previous record also being held by RR when they had chased 224 against Kings XI Punjab in 2020. With six wins in seven games, RR are firmly at the top of the points table with 12 points to their name.
