Abhishek Sharma headlined Shubman Gill-led India's comeback in the five-match T20I series versus hosts Zimbabwe as his 47-ball 100 propelled the Men in Blue to a mammoth 100-run win in Harare on Sunday (July 7). The left-hander, who was dismissed for 0 in the first T20I, went on a rampage in the second T20I displaying his blistering strokeplay. His knock was laced with 7 fours and 8 sixes, at a strike-rate of 212.77. Nearing a ton, Abhishek hit three successive sixes to reach his maiden international century.

Abhishek got off the mark with a huge six in the first over. He then attacked the Sikandar Raza-led Zimbabwe spinners and hit medium pacerDion Myers for 24 runs in an over to set the tone for India's mammoth total, 234/2. The 23-year-old stitched an impressive 137-run second-wicket stand with half-centurion Ruturaj Gaikwad (77 not out) before falling for a breathtaking 47-ball ton.

After Abhishek, Gaikwad and Rinku Singh's (48*)onslaught, India posted 234-2 and defended the score by dismissing the hosts for 134 in 18.4 overs, courtesy of Avesh Khan's three strikes.

At the post-match presentation, Player-of-the-Match Abhishek said, "I think it was a pretty good performance by me, the defeat we had yesterday, it wasn't easy for us. I felt today it was my day and I made it count. I feel T20 is about momentum and I took it to the end. Special mention to the coaches, captains and the team management to keep confidence. I always feel that as a youngster if it's your day, you have to express yourself. We were talking after every over and he (Ruturaj) said to me that you should take it on. I always believe in my ability, if it's in my arc and even if it's the first ball, I will go after it."
