US based e-commerce marketplace Amazon has been dragged to the Bombay High Court by Global E-services.
The Mumbai based firm, Global E services has sued Amazon for non-payment of rental dues.
Punit Damodar, the lawyer representing the Mumbai based company said that Amazon vacated the premises without clearing the dues. Though he did not clarify the actual outstanding amount but said it is "substantial".
Before this, in 2016 Amazon had been sued by a Chennai based ed-tech startup 'Flintobox'. The startup had then filed a legal notice against Amazon claiming the e-commerce marketplace had indulgedin the illegal use of its brand name.
The Bombay High Court is to hear the Global E services case on September 4.
The US e-commerce giantAmazonhas been caught in the court proceedings at a time when it is focusing on expanding its market in the Indian subcontinent.
Recently the company had invested over 300 crores in its Indian wholesale business.
