Petrol, diesel prices hiked for fifth consecutive day

Petrol price on Wednesday settled at Rs 78.18 a litre while diesel scaled a new high of Rs 69.75 per litre in the national capital. 

Petrol prices witnessed marginal increase on Thursday. Petrol is being sold at Rs 78.30 per litre in Delhi and Rs 85.72 per litre in Mumbai. 
 
The price of petrol had crossed the Rs 78 per litre mark in Delhi for the first time in more than two-and-half-months on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, diesel scaled a new high and is sold at Rs 69.93 per litre in Delhi and Rs 74.24 per litre in Mumbai.

The fuel prices increased for the fifth consecutive day today. 

Fuel prices have witnessed a sharp hike since August 26.  The prices have climbed steadily since August 26.
