Škoda Auto India is all set to present the much-awaited Kylaq SUV through a high-octane motion picture, becoming the first company in the Indian automotive sector to present a world premiere of a car on an OTT platform. The motion picture, directed by renowned filmmaker Rohit Shetty, will go live on Jio Cinema on November 6 at 12:30 PM.
The cinematic presentation will unveil the vehicle's design and its performance capabilities across varied terrains. Speaking of this unique launch, Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Škoda Auto India, said, "Films have always been bonded with India and the Czech Republic, and here we have managed to geographically connect the two." He added that the naming of the vehicle was also a reflection of the local influence, while noting that the Kylaq was conceived and designed specifically for the Indian market. “It was the people of India who named the Škoda Kylaq, and the car represents a new chapter for the brand in India,” Janeba said.
The name Kylaq has its origin from the Sanskrit term for a crystal, and is also connected to Hinduism's Mount Kailash. This SUV joins the growing lineup of Škoda Auto India which already consists of the Kodiaq and Kushaq SUVs alongside Slavia sedan. Škoda Auto India's bid to introduce an under-4 meter SUV is expected to further expand the brand's reach in the country, which made a formal announcement in February this year.
Škoda with this model aims to penetrate into new markets and areas of India with the intention of increasing its storefronts to 350 by 2025. Due to its best ever sales in 2022 and 2023 when the company sold over 100,000 cars, the Kylaq is expected to enhance Škoda’s hold in the Indian automotive market and boost its future growth.
