Nissan unveils seventh-generation patrol in Abu Dhabi

In an Abu Dhabi event, Nissan officially introduced the seventh iteration of its iconic Patrol SUV. The royal family graced the occasion. Amongst others who witnessed the event were VIPs, Nissan executives, dealers, partners, media representatives, customers, and employees. Makoto Uchida, President and CEO of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., presided over the launch, heralding a new era for the Patrol legacy.

The latest model comes with certain advancements such as:

A striking new design that commands attention,potent V6 twin-turbo engine, pushing the boundaries of performance,sophisticated 9-speed automatic transmission for smooth power delivery, and adaptive air suspensionenhancing the vehicle's all-terrain capabilities.

These advancements are complemented by state-of-the-art technologies that include the NissanConnect 2.0, powered by Google built-in, ProPILOT Assist for enhanced driving assistance and Klipsch Premium Audio System for an immersive sound experience

Uchida emphasised the Patrol's significance saying, "The all-new Patrol exemplifies the exciting and empowering models we're delivering under our global business plan, The Arc. This seventh generation represents a bold leap forward, combining unparalleled performance, cutting-edge technology, and a commanding presence to redefine the SUV segment."

Design: An intersection of heritage and innovation

The Nissan Patrol boasts a premium design aesthetic that elevates its road presence through a distinctive silhouette that projects an 'unbreakable' appearance. Its signature V-motion grille is now wider and more integrated. It also consists of enhanced Double C-shaped headlights with Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) technology. Its available in 22-inch alloy wheels for enhanced road presence and off-road performance. The Patrol SUV comes in striking exterior colours, including four vibrant two-tone options.

A significant add on is the puddle lamp, which activates as occupants approach the vehicle, displaying the iconic Nissan Patrol silhouette and "Since 1951" text—a nod to the SUV's rich history and the Japanese principle of omotenashi (thoughtful hospitality).

Power and Performance

The seventh-generation Patrol introduces Nissan's most powerful iteration to date:

  • A new 3.5-liter V6 twin turbo engine delivering 425HP and 700Nm of torque.
  • 7 per cent increase in power and 25 per cent boost in torque compared to the outgoing V8 engine.
  • Enhanced fuel efficiency.
  • High heat-resistant turbocharger and scavenge oil pump for consistent performance
  • An alternative 3.8-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine option (316HP, 386Nm of torque)
  • 9-speed automatic transmission for improved driving dynamics
  • Dynamic suspension with e-damper technology
  • Adaptive air suspension system as standard
  • Six distinct drive modes: standard, sand, rock, mud/rut, eco, and sport
  • 4WD transfer mode interlock system for seamless mode switching

The interior is a testament to refined craftsmanship as it has quilted leather seats with Kumiko-inspired detailing, massage functionality and eight-way adjustment on select trims, standard panoramic sunroof, 28.6-inch horizontal Monolith display featuring twin 14.3-inch screens, optional dual 12.8-inch rear-seat entertainment screens, 64-color ambient lighting system with customizable live backgrounds, 12-speaker Klipsch Premium Audio system with advanced audio technologies.

There is also a biometric cooling technology for intuitive temperature control, class-leading roominess, especially in second and third rows. The EZ flex seats make the third-row accessible. There is increased cargo space, and enhanced cabin quietness through improved frame design and acoustic glass.

The Nissan Patrol is set to hit showrooms across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the wider Middle East region starting November 1, 2024, promising to redefine the luxury SUV segment with its blend of power, technology, and comfort.
