New Bentley Continental GT Speed launch date confirmed

2025 Bentley Continental GT

Bentley has confirmed the arrival of the new 2025 Continental GT in June 2024. The updated grand tourer will pack an efficient yet powerful V8 hybrid powertrain, making it the first Bentley with a plug-in-hybrid drivetrain.

This latest iteration holds the distinction of being the most powerful Bentley road car ever created. With a staggering 782 PS of power and 1000 Nm of torque, the Continental GT Speed is a true performer. However, Bentley hasn't compromised on environmental responsibility. The car features a plug-in hybrid powertrain, enabling an impressive 50 miles (80 km) of electric-only range and achieving a CO2 figure (WLTP) under 50 g/km. This marks a significant step forward for Bentley's Beyond100 strategy, which aims to position the brand as a leader in sustainable luxury mobility.

Beyond brute force, the Continental GT Speed prioritises dynamic handling. Advanced technological features like active all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, four-wheel steering, and a 48V electric active anti-roll control system work in concert to create the most responsive Bentley ever built. Bentley claims this car to be the first "everyday supercar" in its segment, offering exhilarating performance without sacrificing comfort or everyday usability.

To underscore the car's performance capabilities, Bentley will also announce an unofficial "underwater speed record" achieved by the Continental GT Speed. The vehicle reportedly reached its top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h) in the Ryfylke Tunnel in Norway, the longest and deepest subsea road tunnel globally. This feat is a testament to the car's exceptional engineering and power.

The Continental GT holds a special place in Bentley's history. Launched in 2002, it revitalised the brand, leading to a tenfold increase in sales and shaping Bentley's modern identity. The first generation was a resounding success, and subsequent iterations continued to refine the formula. The fourth-generation Continental GT Speed signifies the continuation of this legacy, offering a powerful, sustainable, and technologically advanced rendition of the iconic grand tourer. This new chapter promises to propel Bentley into the future of luxury mobility.

The first generation Continental GT increased the carmaker’s sales by 10% within four years from its introduction. The second-generation model further boosted its appeal with the introduction of the W12 engine alongside the V8. The third-generation model brought a whole set of new changes, including a purpose-built platform, new suspension and electrical systems. The fourth generation is said to push the envelope even further with its efficient hybrid powertrain.
