Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG launched in India at INR 8.19 lakh

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) on Thursday launched the S-CNG variant of the 2024 Swift hatchback, claiming it to be the most-efficient CNG vehicle in its segment. The new CNG vehicle offers a mileage of 32.85 km/kg and is available in three variants: V, V(O), and Z. With the launch of Swift CNG, Maruti now has 14 models available with CNG option in the Indian market. As for the pricing, the Swift CNG starts at INR 8,19,500 (ex-showroom).

Based on the all-new Swift, which was launched in May this year, the Swift S-CNG offers an array of standard safety features such as six airbags, Electronic Stability Program+, Hill Hold Assist, among others. It comes equipped with various advanced features such as automatic climate control, rear AC vent, wireless charger, 60:40 split rear seats, and a 7-inch Smart Play Pro infotainment system with Suzuki Connect.

Maruti states that all its CNG models are conceptualised, designed, developed, and rigorously tested at the company's research and development facility before they are made available to customers. "Last fiscal year, our CNG sales in the passenger vehicle category witnessed a 46.8% growth compared to Financial Year 2022-23 and registered a CAGR of around 28% since 2010," said Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited.

Which others Maruti models come with CNG variant?
A total of 14 models in Maruti Suzuki's portfolio come with CNG variants. In the Maruti Arena range, models that are offered with S-CNG option include Alto K10, Brezza, Celerio, Dzire, Ertiga, Eeco, S-Presso, WagonR and the new Swift. In the Nexa range, Baleno, XL6, Fronx and Grand Vitara get CNG options.

Which are the other CNG options in this segment?
The direct rival to Maruti Swift CNG in the CNG hatchback segment is the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG. The latter starts at INR 7.68 lakh and offers a mileage of 27.0 km/litre.
