Mahindra Thar ROXX 4x4 prices out, starts at INR 18.79 lakh

Mahindra & Mahindra has officially revealed the prices of the Thar ROXX 4x4 variants, setting a new standard in rugged performance and advanced technology. The base D22 variant starts at INR 18.79 lakh and it goes up to INR 22.49 lakh for the fully equipped AX7L variant. Bookings are set to begin on October 3 and deliveries are expected to coincide with Dussehra, i.e. October 12.

The Thar ROXX comes fitted with 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine in two power options. The 4x4 MT variant yields 111.9 kW and 330Nm of torque, while the 4x4 AT option earns 128.6 kW and 370Nm of torque. This range enables drivers to select between fully manual and the modern automated unit which was developed to increase the utility of the vehicle for off-road use.

The primary determinant behind the Thar ROXX’s extremely high ride and drive competence arises from the SUV’s 4XPLOR model that enables refinements of a low-ratio transfer case and electronic locking differentials. These improvements were made to create better handling on such surfaces as snow, sand and mud making it even more appropriate for such surfaces. The approach angle reaches 30°, and the departure angle reaches 35°, while the water wading capability of the vehicle is 650 mm, which contributes to the all-terrain utility of the vehicle.

Some of the HMI advanced technologies implemented in Thar ROXX are CrawlSmart and IntelliTurn. The low speed control in CrawlSmart means a driver is able to keep the car at a steady low speed without having to touch the pedals, more so when maneuvering round an object. IntelliTurn, however, engages a lock, one of the rear wheels, making turning easier in tough circumstances.

The Thar ROXX also comes with Gen II Adventure Statistics Display, which enable proper monitoring of the vehicle’s performance on off-road tracks.. Other instruments include compass, roll & pitch altimeter, and driving modes that over power the ground to warrant its surface type. Before the Thar ROXX hits the market, the company is ready to re-establish Mahindra as a market leader in the off-road segment.
