Jumpseats and tailgate protector now available for Tesla Cybertruck

While it's easy to poke fun at the Tesla Cybertruck's unconventional design and question its practicality, some owners are actually using their quirky electric pickups for traditional truck tasks. In response, Tesla has introduced a couple of new accessories designed to enhance the utility of the Cybertruck’s unique bed configuration, though it remains one of the least practical trucks on the market.

Tesla has recently started offering a USD 300 tailgate shield designed to protect the Cybertruck’s stainless steel tailgate when carrying bikes. According to Tesla’s description, “Protect your tailgate while transporting your gear. The Cybertruck tailgate shield features a custom-designed pad that shields your tailgate when carrying equipment such as road or mountain bikes over it. The pad includes molle webbing on the interior side for easy attachment of items like the Cybertruck jumpseat, plus a combo carabiner to secure everything in place.”

In addition to the tailgate shield, Tesla has introduced jumpseats as a second new accessory for the Cybertruck. These seats can be attached using the molle webbing on the tailgate shield and are designed to accommodate up to two people with their legs extending off the rear of the gate. They fold up for easy storage when the tailgate is closed and feature handles for convenient transport. Tesla prices these seats at USD 100 each.

Other accessories available for the Cybertruck include the much-discussed Cybertent, a USD 3,000 folding tent that attaches to the bed and roof of the truck. Buyers can also opt for a colored wrap for up to USD 6,500 or a clear wrap for USD 5,000. Roof rack crossbars are priced at USD 800, and there is a USD 55 window decal that commemorates the infamous window-smashing incident from the Cybertruck’s 2019 reveal event.

Although there are other electric trucks on the market that may offer greater utility, the Cybertruck still enjoys a dedicated following among Tesla enthusiasts, despite some widespread criticism. While these accessories might be expensive and their practicality limited, they play a crucial role in enhancing the value of the Cybertruck for its owners.
