Jeep has officially confirmed the launch of an all-electric version of the Renegade, promising a price point starting at under USD 25,000. This announcement signals Jeep's strategic expansion into new markets and its commitment to electrification as a key pillar of its growth strategy.

Stellantis revealed the news during the Stellantis 2024 Investor Day on Thursday, during which it was disclosed that the electric Renegade will be among three new models headed to North America. This is a part of Jeep’s visual identity revival plan since it has recently experienced some sales slump and outside of the Americas, Jeep established a more limited presence.

However, the company has recently undergone some turbulence such as a decline in sales after recording higher sales in 2018; thus, Jeep is known to be among the most patriotic brands in America. Nevertheless, the Copper Chief CEO Antonio Filosa is hopeful that with the new models of the automobiles on the horizon, the machines with electricity will be the ones to make a difference.

Responding to Filosa’s concern that the electric Renegade and its like will help gain new customers, Filosa said there is confidence that the strategies will help capture market share form the likes of Tesla. Jeep’s hard-working Wagoneer S luxury electric SUV with a range of up to 300 miles showcased recently at the auto show is a clear example of Jeep’s dedication to innovation in EV segment.

Jeep has big plans for the future and while the company is focused heavily on North America, Jeep is looking to get back into the small UV market globally while solidifying and growing its mid-size UV segment. Within the next three years, Jeep wants to offer more models which will increase from 10 up to 13 models, out of which six shall be all-electric by 2027.

There were reports last May that after Jeep’s alliance with Stellantis, the CEO Carlos Tavares, is planning to release a USD 25,000 Jeep EV in the United States and now that vehicle appears to be the Renegade EV. Tavares reminded everybody of the affordability issue, which has always been a hue and cry of people when it comes to EVs for consumers on both sides of the Atlantic.

That being said, details of the electric Renegade have not been released, however, consumers are likely to expect its launch jointly with the Wagoneer S and another forthcoming model, known as the Recon, an off-road EV based on the Wrangler. Thanks to Jeep’s great electrification strategy and the company’s focus on the affordable segment, the automobile industry will face several changes.
