Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has signed and MoU with Charge Zone to further strengthen its EV story in India. This strategic collaboration will involve Charge Zone deploying the DC 60 kW fast chargers across 100 dealerships of HMIL across the country. The MoU signing took place at HMIL’s corporate office in Gurugram, Haryana in the presence of the Function Head, Jae Wan Ryu from HMIL and Kartikey Hariyani, the Founder and CEO of Charge Zone.
The main goals of the initiative are to increase the density of the charging stations readily available to the public and provide them with improved possibilities for travel between and within cities. During the interview with Ryu, the latter stated that one of the critical factors to tackle range anxiety and drive the adoption of electric mobility in India is a charging network. He underlined that this means the greater network of fast Charger which also can be used by all car owners using the 'myHyundai' or 'Charge Zone' application.
Hariyani reaffirmed Charge Zone’s adoption of renewable energy-based EV charging solutions that the company has deployed in India. At the moment, HMIL has 19 dealers selling both cars and the DC 60 kW public EV charger, and intends to increase its charging points to 100 stations across the country through this collaboration. The emphasis shall continue to be on charging convenience and charge effectiveness backed by a sound and efficient round the clock customer support system.
Other chargers in the HMIL’s strategic investment are DC 180 kW and DC 60 kW chargers, beyond dealership outlets; 15 more fast charging points strategically located in India’s cities and highways under consideration. The company has introduced a Charging Management System (CMS) section called ‘EV Charge’ inside the application ‘myHyundai’ for EV customers and direct access to charging points, slot bookings, remote monitoring, and online payment options for clients across all OEM brands.
Integration of the charger network of Charge Zone into the ‘EV Charge’ is beneficial to the HMIL customer base as the various CPO chargers are all accessed from a single window. This partnership is formed with the purpose of establishing fast-track charge point network in India, in turn helping the country in its journey towards electrification and zero-emissions target, while also improving ease for e-mobility users across the country.
