Hyundai begins export of Made-in-India Exter SUV to South Africa


Hyundai Motor India Limited has expanded its exports portfolio by including Exter SUV in it. It shipped the first batch of 996 units of the SUV to South Africa, making it the eighth model to be exported to the country from India. Hyundai, the largest exporter of passenger vehicles by volumes from India, has marked 20 years of export to South Africa, since 2004. Besides Exter, it ships models like Grand i10 NIOS, Aura, i20, i20 N Line, Venue, Venue N Line and Alcazar.

The Knight variant of Exter comes in a sporty package with Black painted side sill garnish, Red accents on front bumper and rear tailgate, Red front brake calipers, Black front and rear skid plate and Black painted R15 Alloy wheels on the SX(O) Connect variant. The Exter emblem in black color and an exclusive Knight emblem accentuate the look. On the inside, there is Black interiors with red accents and stitching, Red footwell lighting, Black satin interior door handles and steering, metal scuff plate, floor mat with red stitching and Knight unique seat upholstery with red stitch and piping.

The Exter CNG is powered by the 1.2 l Bi-Fuel (Petrol with CNG) engine paired with 5 speed manual transmission, delivering a fuel efficiency of 27.1 Km/kg, as per ARAI.

Hyundai Exter has already surpassed the milestone of 1 lakh sales in India within a year of its launch. The company has now also started offering Hy-CNG (Dual Cylinder CNG) and Knight Edition variants of Exter. Jae Wan Ryu, Function Head - Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “South Africa has always been an important export market for HMIL, as most of the models that are manufactured at HMIL’s factory in Tamil Nadu are exported to South Africa. Also, 2024 is a milestone year for HMIL as it marks 20 years of exporting world-class products to South Africa."
