During a meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere in Beijing on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping invited Norway for “friendly” cooperation on renewable energy. Regarding the cooperation prospect, Xi highlighted several major fields, such as environmental cooperation, energy transformation, shipping, agricultural and fishery products, and electric vehicles, according to the CCTV.

Apart from the green energy subject, Xi also touched on the ongoing Ukraine conflict saying that all the parties need to find a political solution through peaceful negotiations. “Today, in the face of unprecedented changes across the world, the world is speeding up to see if the international community can make the right choice,” CCTV quoted Xi as saying.

Prime Minister Stoere recognised the Chinese contribution towards the green transition of the world. He said he focused that the conversations additionally covered climate and policies of sustainable development, business, and human rights. ”That is what China is doing and that is of great importance to the green transition the world is going through,” Stoere noted during the meeting and in a statement as well.

The biannual consultations occur at a time of common interest in achieving both nations’ environment and energy agendas. Having confirmed its roles as a world leader in green energy technologies and low-carbon development, China is carrying out talks with another climate-forward nation, Norway, on more advanced cooperation in the sphere.

It was agreed on this meeting that the strengthening of international cooperation in the domain of environmental affairs is vital and this meeting is a result of shared concern of the two nations in promoting sustainable development for mutual benefit.
