Battery Smart achieves 50 million battery swaps for electric two- and three-wheelers
Battery Smart, the battery swapping network for electric two- and three-wheelers, has achieved a major milestone of 50 million battery swaps. This achievement puts the company among the vanguard of the country’s burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) sector. In just a few years, Battery Smart has widened its network of over 1,400 swapping stations across India. Using existing infrastructure and adopting a partner-led strategy, the company has supported local businesses while heading towards the fast growth. This approach helps EV accessibility, especially in tier 1 to tier 3 area where traditional charging options scarce.
Battery Smart Co-Founder and CEO Pulkit Khurana was proud of this milestone, saying, ‘We’re proud of this for a number of reasons: 50m battery swaps is not just a milestone for us but is a testament to the strong commitment we have made to achieving massive EV adoption at an affordable cost.’ We have developed a battery swapping model that addresses a number of problems that are restricting EV users. We eliminate range anxiety with fast, two minute swaps and give drivers more earning potential.”
Under the battery swapping model, users avoid battery ownership costs, which lowers the upfront price of EVs by as much as 40%. Through subscribing to Battery Smart network, drivers can find fully charged batteries and experience a better driving. In particular, female drivers account for 3-4 times the industry average in the network, taking advantage of increased financial independence and employment opportunities in the burgeoning EV market.
This development takes place as the popularity of battery swapping grows and the government’s PM E-DRIVE scheme is seeking to encourage adoption of electric two and three wheelers in India. Furthermore, battery swapping initiatives are supported by recent guidelines from the Ministry of Power, adding to the building of a sustainable EV ecosystem.
Battery Smart’s rapid progress underscore the pivotal role it is playing in enabling India’s shift to sustainable transport, and thereby, making electric vehicles more accessible to a wider set of people.
