Audi launches new RS Q8 performance and updated RS Q8

Audi is set to expand its Q8 model range with the introduction of two high-performance SUVs: the new RS Q8 and the RS Q8 Performance. Launched in 2017, the Audi RS Q8 is the performance flagship of Audi’s SUV segment which comes with a 441 kW (600 PS) engine and the recently released Audi RS Q8 Performance with 471 kW (640 PS) engine. Such characteristics make RS Q8 Performance the most powerful series-produced combustion model from Audi Sport GmbH.

While the suspension tuning and overall handling are also significantly improved thanks to a new, self-locking center differential, both models remain eminently usable. The body kits of the RS Q8 and RS Q8 Performance models are derived from a recently updated Q8 that offers new options to update its equipment. Pricing for the RS Q8 begins at EURO 141,900 and for the RS Q8 Performance at EURO 155,700 and is set for a June release.

Built on the revolutionary Audi platform RS3, the RS Q8 has a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, delivers an output of 441 kW (600 PS) and 800 Nm of torque, and sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in approximately 3.8 seconds. This car’s maximum speed is restricted to 250 km/h by default but, can be enhanced to 280 km/h or even 305 km/h if requested. The RS Q8 Performance goes a step further with 471 kW (640 PS) and 850 Nm of torque and getting from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. This model is equipped with the most potent combustion engine in the whole lineup of Audi Sport GmbH.

Both models incorporate a new front apron that has large air inlets and a high-gloss black honeycomb look, while the matte gray honeycomb pattern can be found on the RS Q8 Performance. The rear entails two oval tailpipes and a centrally divided diffuser which underlines its RS demeanour.

In both the RS Q8 and the RS Q8 Performance, there is a permanent quattro all-wheel drive system along with an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission that has improved shifting times. The vehicles’ adaptive air suspension sport with controlled damping and electromechanical active roll stabilization (eAWS) leave the car both sporty and comfortable. The eAWS system increases the lateral stiffness of the car body during cornering and brings compliance on an irregular surface.

Some of the bright options are the RS sport exhaust system which is very desirable for increased GNP and base tones; the dynamic package plus consisting of the ceramic braking system, the quattro sport differential and the increased top speed of 305 km/h. New for the RS Q8 models is Matrix LED headlight system with HD Matrix LED and Audi laser light. The digital OLED rear lights provide the car with multiple digital light signatures for that one-of-a-kind look.

New paint colour options such as Sakhir Gold, Ascari Blue and Chili Red can also be added. The pretty distinctive RS Q8 Performance concept features matte gray on the exterior parts, while the standard RS Q8 features high-gloss black parts.

Inside, the RS design packages in red, gray or blue (if you opt for the RS Q8 Performance) are refined, using high-quality materials and having contrasting stitches. RS sport seats with honeycomb stitching and various décors of inlays increase the luxuriousness of the car. RS Q8 Performance also boasts a 12. 3-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus with a shift light indicator along with the Launch control to measure the maximum speed. The RS Q8 and RS Q8 Performance are the quintessence of Audi’s principle of performance on the one hand, and comfort and usability on the other hand, thus establishing new standards in the premium sport utility vehicle segment.
