Let's take a deep dive into what all the new 2025 BMW X3 has to offer.
Two Hybrid Powertrains Offered
The 2025 X3 comes in two petrol trims: the X3 30 xDrive and the X3 M50 xDrive. Both feature new hybrid powertrains. The X3 30 xDrive utilises a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, generating 258 PS and 400 Nm of torque. This surpasses the outgoing non-hybrid model in power.
The X3 M50 xDrive steps it up with a more muscular electrified 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine. This powerhouse produces 400 PS and 580 Nm of torque, propelling the X3 from 0 to 60 mph in a brisk 4.4 seconds. All-wheel drive comes standard on both trims, and an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission handles the shifting duties. Furthermore, the European markets also offer the choice of a 197PS 2.0L turbocharged diesel as well as a 300PS plug-in-hybrid with an electric-only driving range of 90 kilometres.
New Design with Increased Dimensions
The 2025 X3 boasts a completely redesigned exterior that's slightly larger than its predecessor. While the wheelbase remains the same at 112.8 inches, the new X3 is 1.3 inches longer, 1.1 inches wider, and sits 1.0 inches lower. This translates to a more dynamic stance.

The new design incorporates a bolder take on BMW's signature kidney grille, with vertical and diagonal bars on the X3 30 xDrive. New headlights with L-shaped indicators that serve triple duty as daytime running lights, side markers, and turn signals add a modern touch. The X3 M50 xDrive receives M-specific design cues, including sportier grilles, quad exhaust pipes, and M Sport brakes.
Upgraded Interior with Latest Technology
Inside, the X3 gets a significant technology upgrade with the inclusion of the BMW Curved Display and the latest iDrive 9 infotainment system. The system boasts new features like QuickSelect, allowing for easy access to frequently used functions.
The cabin features newly designed heated sports seats with a flat-bottom steering wheel for a driver-centric feel. The X3 also offers ample cargo space, measuring 31.5 cubic feet with the rear seats up and expanding to 67.1 cubic feet when folded down.
Pricing and Availability
The 2025 X3 30 xDrive starts at USD 50,675, while the sportier X3 M50 xDrive begins at USD 65,275. Both represent a slight price increase from their 2024 counterparts. BMW will begin production of the X3 at its Spartanburg, South Carolina facility, with US sales commencing in the fourth quarter of 2024.
