Protesters in Bangladesh have demolished more houses of leaders of Sheikh Hasina's Awami League and defaced murals of the country's founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after they vandalised and set on fire the former family home of the deposed prime minister.
The unrest sparked after a live online address of Hasina.
Several thousand people rallied in front of Hasina's father Mujibur Rahman's house in the capital's Dhanmondi area, which was earlier turned into a memorial museum, early Wednesday following a social media call for &ldquo;Bulldozer Procession&rdquo; as Hasina was supposed to make her address.
An excavator later started demolishing the residence. The demolition was still underway on Thursday morning.
The residence of Hasina, Sudha Sadan, located on Road 5 in Dhanmondi, was also set on fire by protesters late on Wednesday, The Daily Star newspaper reported.
Since the ousting of the Hasina-led government on August 5, Sudha Sadan had been completely vacated.
Protesters also demolished the Khulna home of Hasina's cousins Sheikh Helal Uddin and Sheikh Salauddin Jewel.
Thousands of people gathered around the house, chanting "Delhi or Dhaka -- Dhaka, Dhaka" and "Down with Mujibism".
Ahsan Habib, additional deputy commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police, told The Daily Star, "I have seen the news of the incident on Facebook, but I don't have further information." Sheikh Helal was the former MP of Bagerhat-1 and Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel was the former MP of Khulna-2.
Protesting students removed the name of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall of Dhaka University.
The homes of former lawmaker of Kushtia-3 and Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif and president of Kushtia Awami League Sadar Khan were ransacked.
Protesters in Chattogram took out a torch procession to demonstrate against Hasina's speech, which was broadcast from Bangladesh Awami League's social media handles last night.
They later defaced Sheikh Mujib's murals at Chittagong Medical College and in the city's Jamal Khan area.

Protesters vandalised a mural of Bangabandhu near the Circuit House ground in Mymensingh city with hammers and crowbars around 11:30 pm yesterday, Prothom Alo newspaper reported.
The "Mujib Mural" of Bangabandhu Hall was also vandalised at the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University in Trishal. The mural of Mujibur Rahman and his wife Fazilatunnesa Mujib at the Chuadanga deputy commissioner's office was demolished around 12:15 am on Thursday, the Bangla Daily reported.
In Bhairab, Kishoreganj, the protesters vandalised the mural of Mujib at the upazila Awami League office and at the upazila parishad last night.
The student movement earlier promised to scrap Bangladesh's 1972 Constitution as they promised to bury the &ldquo;Mujibist constitution&rdquo; while some far-right groups also suggested a change of the national anthem adopted by Mujib-led post-independence government.
Hasina, 77, has been living in India since August 5 last year when she fled Bangladesh following a massive student-led protest that toppled her Awami League's 16-year regime.
Hasina's father is widely viewed as an independence hero, but anger at his daughter has tarnished his legacy. In a Facebook livestream, Hasina condemned the attack and demanded "justice".
"They can demolish a building, but they can't erase history," she said. Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has issued arrest warrants for Hasina and several former Cabinet ministers, advisers, and military and civil officials for &ldquo;crimes against humanity and genocide&rdquo;.

Bangladesh protesters vandalise houses of Awami League leaders after setting fire to Hasina's family house

It is the first Marvel female superhero movie, steered by an Oscar-winning actor, equally known for being a vocal women's rights activist. It is also the first time a female director, Anna Boden, is driving a superhero film in Marvel's stable with her "equal" collaborator of 20 years, Ryan Fleck.&nbsp; 
Larson, in an interview in Singapore, had told PTI that the film gave her a bigger platform to talk about feminism, a cause close to her heart. 
"I feel so lucky that I made my first blockbuster movie and I just get to talk about feminism all day.

&nbsp;I never would have thought that was like a possibility for me. That's like my dream," the actor said last month.

Boden said as challenging as directing the film was, it was also empowering to be at the helm of big studio production.&nbsp;

She, however, hoped that there comes a time when a female director for a superhero film becomes a norm rather than an exception. 
 
"It's 2019... And everybody here looks for the day when it is not newsworthy that a woman is directing this kind of movie," she said at press conference in Singapore.

The theatrical release in India and the US on International Women's Day is an obvious move but the film is clear in its projection and reflection of a world that is going through campaigns like Time's Up.

But the risks, no matter how calculated, cannot be ignored.

It is the first attempt at a studio film as big as Marvel for the directors, who have indie, character-driven films like "Half Nelson" and "Mississippi Grind" to their credit.&nbsp;

Shouldering a stand-alone introductory film of a female hero in the aftermath of Harvey Weinstein scandal is a big responsibility.

The director duo said they did an "all expenses paid" course at 'Marvel University', where they were supported by the team well-versed with the MCU history, which was unfamiliar terrain for them.

Despite the training, directing "Captain Marvel" was a "scary and humbling" experience for Boden though the directors don't feel any obligation towards "Endgame" where Captain Marvel is already set to play an integral role as the post-credit scenes in "Infinity War" revealed.

"Honestly, since they won't tell us anything about 'Avengers'? They have a lock and key on that, we feel no commitment and responsibility to that movie at all. We're just focused on our movie," she told PTI.

The film spells out its goal, clearly aided by dialogues that check all the trending words - feminism, female representation, diversity, racism and xenophobia moulded in signature Marvel-esque humour.

The world of "Captain Marvel" is populated by Samuel L Jackson's younger, simpler Nick Fury; multi-layered women in Gemma Chan's no-nonsense Min-Nerva, Lashana Lynch's instinctive Maria, Annette Bening's double stunner, Jude Law's focused Yon-Rogg and Ben Mendelsohn's Talos who one ends up rooting for.

But what helps the film most is Larson's earnestness as the new hero on the horizon, who is capable of taking on Thanos in "Endgame".&nbsp;

The film has its flaws like the character herself, but she is a suitable role model for female fans of the superhero genre.&nbsp;

All in all, a Marvel fan will walk out from the theatres with lots of trivia and '90s nostalgia.
