
In an innovative move to modernise restaurant, a restaurant owner from South India, Tamil Nadu has employed robots to serve food to the customers, a media report stated.
A Chinese restaurant in Chennai, located near the Old Mahabalipuram Road, was knownfor theauthenticChinesefood. However, the restaurant isnow popular for"one-of-a-kind" waiters.
It has four robots who sever food to the customers.
The owner of the restaurant, Venkatesh, is a former IT employee.He has founded the restaurant in collaboration with another friend.
Venkatesh has imported four robots from China. Each ofdifferent colours pink, red, purple and blue.
He said that it took him three months to get the robots from China. It also included getting permissions from the customs department.
Every table in the restaurant has a tablet.The customers place their order by entering it into the tablet. The order reaches the cook in the kitchen who then sends it via robots.
The robots are also designed to understand Tamil.
The restaurant also has trained people to program the robots.
The owner of the restaurant said that the trend of robots restaurants is quite usual in Japan, Bangladesh and Western Countries too.
India already showcased country made robot "Mitra" in theGlobal Entrepreneurship Summit 2017organised in Hyderabad
Mitra is a humanoid invented by a Bengaluru based company"Invento Robotics".
It has been working in Canara Bank and PVR Cinemas in Bengaluru.The robot speaks to the customers, reviews their preferences based on previous purchases and suggests them for a perfect purchase.
Vishwanathan, owner of Mitra also added that the robot can be used as a customer service agent in multiple domains like banks, hospitals, airports, hotels.
