Canada is enduring its worst-ever start to the wildfire season, forcing thousands of people away from their homes.
Canada's Quebec province has been hit by the raging wildfires, with residents awaiting the arrival of reinforcements to help extinguish the blaze. Firefighters in Quebec are struggling to put out 140 fires, most of them out of control.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau blamed climate change for the current wildfires. "These fires are affecting everyday routines, lives and livelihoods, and our air quality," Trudeau tweeted.
Temperatures in parts of British Columbia are expected to hit 33° Celsius. The province is facing the second-biggest wildfire on record.
The US East Coast is blanketed in a veil of smoke from Canadian fires. Schools across the East Coast have cancelled outdoor activities, and residents have been urged to stay indoors.
