While visiting Moscow earlier this month for the annual India-Russia summit, PM Modi repeated call for peace through dialogue and diplomacy.
PM Modi is set to visit Kyiv next month in August 2024. All eyes with be on New Delhi for its role in ending the war in Ukraine.
The latest attempts at dialogue and diplomacy, notably the Swiss Peace Summit in June 2024, did not even include Russia across the table of dialogue. New Delhi, as Russia’s special and privileged partner, has all the credentials to bring Russia and Ukraine across the table of negotiations to end the war.
Reacting to a question on PM Modi's Ukraine visit, External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar said: "I can reasonably expect that thr will be more contacts between us and Ukraine, between us and Russia. We make our position known at the right time, at the right channel."
