As part of the Serbian government's amnesty scheme after mass shootings, about 13,500 weapons were turned in.
The weapons included anti-tank rocket launchers and thousands of rifles. Citizens turned in weapons after two back-to-back mass shootings this month in the Balkan nation.
President Aleksandar Vucic said the weapons would be sent to Serbian ammunition and weapon companies for potential use by the military forces.
President Vucic said after June 8, the state will respond with repressive measures and punishments will be very strict.
Around half of the weapons seized since last week were unregistered while the other half were registered weapons that people nevertheless chose to surrender.
Gun violence in Serbia has witnessed a spike in recent months. As per reports, the Balkan nation is the among top European countries in terms of registered weapons per capita.
Anti-crime department officer Bojana Otovic Pjanovic said registered addresses will be checked for conditions for safekeeping.
