Shanghai Museum has come up with a surprising cat-themed exhibition where you can bring your feline friends to gaze at the ancient Egyptian artefacts.

The museum has allowed up to 200 visitors on Saturday nights to bring their four-legged friends and give them a chance to interact with a section of the exhibition known as "The Secrets of Saqqara".

These relics include cat statues and other feline imagery. It is inspired by Bastet, the goddess of protection, who is often depicted as a feline and worshipped by Egyptians.

The event known as "Meow Night" began for the "Top of the Pyramids: Ancient Egyptian Civilization Exhibition" on July 19. It will continue Aug 17 and has been held six times so far.

The visitor cats can only be taken out of carriers or strollers at designed areas for photography. Cats are checked for vaccination and health at the entry along with on-site veterinarians present.
