Multiple earthquakes hit Turkey, which left more than 40,000 people dead and a dozens injured or displaced.
There were many reason for these earthquakes in Turkey- fault lines, delayed rescue missions, and unsafe buildings. More than 6000 buildings collapsed in the quake and it was because of the way these buildings were built.
Violent shaking first causes the pillars of a multistory building to explode, which then leads to each floor of the building falling and folding.
Experts are saying that these pancake collapse are one of the major reason for high number of casualties, as people inside the building have no time to escape.
From the videos that came out from Turkey, it shows that first the bottom floor crumbles and then the rest of the building came down on top of it
Some of the buildings near the Turkey-Syria border were haphazardly made to make room for the Syrian refugees and followed no construction standards while building them.
