In England, a report of a man wielding a large knife created panic but turned out to be a Harry Potter fan carrying a wand. Here are some similar occasion when people were fooled by false alarms:

Scarecrow Scare

In March 2023, a passenger in a moving train spotted a ‘lifeless body’ in a farmer’s field. It later turned out to be a well-dressed scarecrow wearing workmen’s trousers on and a puffer-type coat. The incident happened in Lincolnshire, England.

Human Toe or Potato

In January 2021, in Gateshead, England, police were alerted to a human toe sticking out of a muddy field. It turned to be a potato with a mushroom growing next to it.

Tiger Scare

Back in March 2022, in Oldham, England, residents were alarmed by a tiger which later was discovered to be just a big soft toy.

Bone-Chilling Scare

In April 2023, police in Derbyshire were alerted to a pirate skeleton, complete with the remains of a parrot. It was actually a toy skeleton.

Blackpool Tower Fire

2023 ended in a ‘blaze’, with reports of Lancashire’s Blackpool Tower being on fire. Six fire engines and a ‘rope rescue’ team rushed to the scene, only to find that the ‘flames’ were actually orange netting.
