Hidden corridor in Great Pyramid of Giza unveiled

The existence of hidden internal corridor above the pyramid's main entrance was confirmed by Egyptian antiquities officials.

Video created through an endoscope showed the corridor's inside which is 9m (30ft) long and 2.1m (7ft) wide.

In 2016, the corridor was first detected using an imaging technique called muography.

Archaeologist Zahi Hawass hoped that the discovery may reveal if the burial chamber of King Khufu still exists inside the pyramid.

Another large void was detected inside the pyramid using muography in 2017.

Around 2560 BC, the Great Pyramid was built as monumental tomb during the reign of the Pharaoh Khufu.
