After the COVID-19 pandemic, many offices shifted to a hybrid mode of work whereby the employees can choose to work from home and come to the office on a select few days. After things got back to normal people continued to work from home to maintain a better work-life balance.
Offices are taking the initiative to make the workplace better as they feel this would invite people to show up for work physically. It is believed that interacting with colleagues fosters a sense of team spirit which has a positive impact on the company.
Office peacocking has led to the emergence of another trend called coffee badging. Employees come to the office only for a short duration to grab a coffee and make their presence felt physically. Offices making it a mandate to work on-site may lead to dissatisfaction towards the company which can make things counterproductive.
Employees believe that working from home allows them to be more productive and allows them to have a flexible schedule. However, certain companies are sceptical about it and feel it might reduce productivity.
