A US woman recently said that she is allergic to water and unable to shower. Water leads to severe itching on her body.

In medical terms, her condition is known as aquagenic urticaria. The skin contact with water causes itchy, red hives or swelling.

As per reports, there are just 37 known occurrences of this condition in the medical literature.

The woman said that coming in contact with water can cause itching for up to an hour.

Her condition got worse since she first noticed it when she was 12 years old.

Her condition was determined when she visited a doctor three years later. In any such case, consultation with a doctor/specialist is recommended.
