National Science Day 2024: History, Significance And Theme

In India, National Science Day is celebrated every year on February 28 to commemorate Indian Physicist CV Raman's discovery of the Raman Effect in 1928. 

Raman Effect revolutionised spectroscopy. Dr CV Raman also received the Nobel Prize for his groundbreaking discovery in 1930.

National Science Day is observed to spread awareness about the significance of scientific applications in our daily lives. It also aims to acknowledge the efforts and achievements of scientists in human welfare. 

This year the theme for National Science Day is 'Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat.'

National Science Day 2024 aims to promote scientific skills and innovations, highlighting how scientists have dealt with issues using homegrown technologies. 

This year's theme also showcases the collaboration between the people and the scientific community, both domestically and internationally, to address worldwide problems and promote self-reliance in science and technology.
