North Korea has the highest prevalence rate of modern slavery in the world, which is 104.6 per 1000 population.
The East African country has the second highest prevalence rate of modern slavery, which is 90.3 per 1000 population.
Mauritania ranks third on the list. It has a modern slavery prevalence rate of 32 per 1000 population.
At the fourth spot on the list, Saudi Arabia was found having prevalence rate of 21.3 as migrant workers’ labour rights are restricted by the ‘kafala’ system.
Turkey, which hosts millions of refugees from Syria, has the fifth highest prevalence rate of modern slavery, at 15.6 per 1000 population.
Tajikistan has a prevalence rate of modern slavery of 14 per 1000 population, making it the sixth most common country for slavery.
