Any institute or individual hoisting the Indian National Flag must take care to ensure that the flag is placed in the right position, that is the saffron band should be visible as the top band.
The Indian National Flag must not be damaged. Moreover, it cannot touch the ground/floor or trail in the water.
The masthead (top part of the flagpole), with the Indian National Flag, must not have any other flag hoisted on it.
The Indian National Flag should not be draped around a speaker's platform or cover the podium.
The Indian National Flag cannot be a part of any costume, uniform or accessory worn below the waist by any person.
A hoisted Indian National Flag must not have any other flag higher than it. It cannot have any flowers, garlands or emblems over it.
The paper National Flag, waved by the public, should not be discarded on the ground.
