Lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, imparted numerous profound teachings that hold relevance even today. Here are five key lessons we can learn or teach from his life and teachings:

Ahimsa (Non-Violence)

Perhaps the most well-known teaching of Lord Mahavir is the principle of non-violence. He advocated for non-violence not only in action but also in thought and speech. 

Anekantavada (Principle of Pluralism) 

Lord Mahavir taught the doctrine of Anekantavada, which acknowledges the multiplicity of perspectives and truths. 

Karma (Law of Cause and Effect)

He taught that every action has consequences, both in this life and beyond. 

Maitri (Friendliness)

Lord Mahavir encouraged his followers to cultivate a sense of friendliness and goodwill towards all beings. 

Samyama (Self-Restraint)

He emphasised the practice of self-restraint and self-discipline as essential for spiritual growth. By controlling one's desires and impulses, individuals can achieve inner peace and tranquillity.

Seva (Service)

Lord Mahavir taught the importance of selfless service to others. By helping those in need and contributing to the welfare of society, individuals can fulfil their moral and ethical duties
