Lazy Animals: Six ‘Couch Potatoes’ Of The Animal Kingdom

Sloth

Sloths are renowned for being slow and can spend up to 20 hours a day sleeping or resting. Their slow metabolism and diet of leaves contribute to their low energy levels.

Koala

Koalas are known to sleep up to 22 hours a day, primarily due to their diet of eucalyptus leaves, which provide little energy.

Cat

Domestic cats are known for their love of sleeping and lounging, often spending up to 16 hours a day resting. Their energy bursts are short-lived, followed by long periods of relaxation.

Panda

While not inherently lazy, pandas have a slow metabolism and spend most of their day eating bamboo, which doesn’t provide much energy, leading to their laid-back nature.

Capybara

Capybaras are the world’s largest rodents and are known for their relaxed demeanour, regularly spending hours lounging in water to stay cool.

Python

Pythons are large, non-venomous snakes that spend much of their time lying patiently, awaiting prey, and waiting until a meal comes along.
