Google Doodles Dedicated to India Independence Day (2014-23)

2014

The Google Doodle in 2014 featured the tricolour version of Google with a postal stamp image from India that read 15 August 1947.

2015

The Google Doodle dedicated to the 68th Independence Day of India featured Mahatma Gandhi. Illustrator Leon Hong drew the doodle,  depicting the Dandi March of 1930. 

2016

In 2016, Google reimagined the historic speech delivered by India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. 

2017

A Mumbai-based artist Sabeena Karnik created the Google Doodle for India's independence day in 2017. She used paper-cut art to create India's Parliament House.

2018

The 2018 Google Doodle for India Independence Day drew inspiration from the truck art of India. It gave a colourful picture of Indian culture. 

2019

Copenhagen-based guest artist Shaivalini Kumar designed the Google Doodle for 2019. It displayed the traditional motifs for Indian textiles. 

2020

Mumbai-based artist Sachin Ghanekar designed the Google Doodle in 2020. It depicted India's rich music culture and featured several Indian folk instruments. 

2021

Kolkata-based artist Sayan Mukherjee created the India Independence Day 2021 Google doodle, featuring different dance forms from  India. 

2022

The 2022 Google Doodle honoured North India's tradition of flying kites on Independence Day. 

2023

New Delhi-based artist Namrata Kumar created a Google doodle for the 77th Independence Day 2023, featuring India's most prominent textiles.
