Start with natural ingredients such as beeswax, coconut oil and shea butter for a moisturising lip balm. Optional additions can include essential oils for fragrance and natural colourants.
In a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water, combine equal parts of beeswax, coconut oil and shea butter. Heat gently until everything is fully melted, stirring occasionally to ensure a smooth and uniform mixture.
Once melted, remove from heat and stir in your chosen essential oils and colourants. This is the time to customise your lip balm’s scent and look.
Carefully pour the melted mixture into small containers or lip balm tubes. Allow it to cool and harden at room temperature for several hours.
Once solidified, your DIY lip balm is ready to use. Store it in a cool, dry place and apply as needed for soft, moisturised lips.
