Chhath Pooja 2023: Why is Thekua Cooked on Chhath Puja? Get the Recipe Here

The Hindu festival of Chhath Puja is dedicated to Sun God and Chhathi Mata. The main 'prasad' or offering of this puja is Thekua. Here is the significance and method of making this 'prasad' 

Ingredient Required

One teaspoon cardamom powder, two cups wheat flour, half a cup jaggery, three to four tablespoons ghee, and one teaspoon dried fruits

First, bring the jaggery to a boil in water, then turn off the burner after it has completely melted.

Now place the flour into a dish and use the jaggery water to knead it.

Add the dry fruits and cardamom powder to it. Form the dough into balls once it's ready.

Now give it shape of thekua , Put some ghee in a pan and heat it up.

Since cleanliness is a major aspect of this celebration, devotees clean the wheat grains at home and get the flour specifically for the bhog meal. Mango wood is used to create a flame, and an earthen burner is used to make this prasad, which is seen as a vital part of the celebration.  Women perform traditional melodies while making this prasad.  During Chhath Puja, Thekua holds a specific significance when it comes to offering Ardha in the morning and evening.
