Astronauts face various challenges in space, and some everyday activities become difficult or impossible. Here’s a look at what they can’t do:

Sleeping Horizontally

In space, there is no ‘up’ or ‘down’, so astronauts can’t sleep lying flat. They secure themselves in sleeping bags attached to the wall to prevent floating around while they rest.

Drinking Alcohol

Astronauts can’t drink alcohol in space because it can impair judgment and decision-making, which is risky in the complex environment of space.

Using Toilets Normally

Space toilets are specially designed to handle waste in microgravity. Astronauts have to use suction and airflow systems to manage urine and faeces, which is a complex process compared to toilets on Earth.

Performing Physical Tasks with Precision

Precision tasks can be challenging in space because of the lack of gravity. Astronauts often use specialised tools and techniques to ensure accuracy in tasks like repairs and experiments.
