Located just across the road from where Melbourne’s first public toilet opened in 1859, the Unko Museum is Australia’s first venture in the world of ‘unko’ – a sweeter Japanese term for faeces.
The Museum’s entry as per The Guardian is priced at $23.50.
The museum features Instagrammable set pieces and quirky games, perfect for your next Instagram post.
The museum has a variety of immersive exhibits featuring ‘adorable poop’. You can, you sit down for a poop tea party, explore the shelves of a poop supermarket, and even pat a furry poop creature named Jenny.
Masaru Kobayashi, director of T Museum, the company behind Unko Museum, says Japan’s kawaii aesthetic, can make even ‘very dirty stinky things’ endearing. The museum is an example of this.
The museum celebrated a lack of taboo at the Unko Museum as visitors are encouraged to stomp on coloured turds for points and shout ‘poo!’ into a microphone to make it glow on a screen.
