1. Optimise Heating Usage

Set your thermostat to a lower temperature when you’re not at home or when you’re asleep.

2. Seal Drafts and Insulate

Check for drafts around windows and doors. Seal gaps with weatherstripping or caulking to prevent heat from escaping. It will reduce the need for constant heating.

3. Use Energy-Efficient Appliances

Replace old, energy-consuming appliances with newer, energy-efficient models. Look for the Energy Star label when purchasing heaters.

4. Natural Heating Strategies

Take advantage of natural sunlight during the day by opening curtains and blinds. Close them at night to retain warmth.

5. Efficient Lighting Choices

Switch to energy-efficient LED or CFL bulbs, as they use less electricity and emit less heat compared to traditional incandescent bulbs.

6. Proper Maintenance of Heating Systems

Regularly service and clean your heating system, whether it’s a furnace or a heat pump. Dirty filters and inefficient systems can lead to higher energy consumption.

7. Unplug Electronics

Even when turned off, electronics can consume standby power. Unplug chargers, laptops, and other devices when not in use.
