An increasing number of fashion labels are choosing materials that do not contribute to the cruelty associated with the fast fashion industry. Here are some natural vegan fabrics that you can consider incorporating into your wardrobe.

Coconut Fabric

It is also known as coir or coconut coir. It is a natural fibre extracted from the husk of coconuts. Coconut fabric is biodegradable, reducing its environmental impact compared to synthetic alternatives.

Hemp

Hemp is a fast-growing plant that requires minimal water and pesticides. It produces strong fibres used for fabric and its cultivation helps improve soil quality.

Seaweed

Seaweed fabric, also known as sea fibre or sea silk, is an innovative and sustainable textile made from seaweed fibre. Seaweed fabric is known for being lightweight, breathable, and absorbent. It has a smooth and silky texture, making it suitable for a variety of clothing and textile applications.

Bamboo

Bamboo fabric is derived from the pulp of bamboo plants. Bamboo is a highly renewable resource that grows quickly without the need for chemical inputs.

Tencel (Lyocell)

Tencel is made from wood pulp, often sourced from sustainably managed eucalyptus or beech forests. The production process is eco-friendly, using a closed-loop system that recycles water and solvents.

Organic Cotton

Organic cotton is produced without synthetic pesticides and fertilisers. It is grown using sustainable farming practices which reduces environmental impact and makes it soft and breathable.
