India has around 516-524 snow leopards. These big cats, unlike tigers and lions, reside in high altitude and rugged terrains like Jammu & Kashmir, Sikkim or Himachal Pradesh.
Mongolia is home to around 1,000 snow leopards.
In China, snow leopards can mostly be found in six provinces, including Qinghai, Yunnan and Xinjiang. According to the World of Statistics, there are 4,500 snow leopards in the country.
