 1. Stress

Elevated stress levels can hasten the greying process. Research indicates that stress also results in the depletion of pigment-producing stem cells in mice.

 2. Smoking

Tobacco smoke carries detrimental chemicals that can speed up hair ageing. Smoking enhances the hydroxylation of the hormone estradiol and slows the production of the enzyme aromatase.

 3. Dietary deficiencies

A shortage of essential nutrients, such as B vitamins and minerals, may trigger grey hair. However, a well-balanced diet has the potential to reverse this effect.

 4. Poor sleep

Inadequate sleep can impact overall health, including hair health. Scientific evidence links sleep deprivation to premature greying, causing inflammation and weakening stem cells.

5. Hydration

Dehydration influences hair texture and colour. Dry, dehydrated hair can result in grey strands due to insufficient moisture. Applying warm coconut oil to the scalp is recommended.

 6. Chemical exposure

Many hair products contain harmful ingredients that reduce melanin. Hydrogen peroxide, found in numerous hair dyes, is one such detrimental chemical.
