Excessive Screen Time

Spending prolonged periods staring at digital screens, such as computers, smartphones and tablets, can lead to digital eye strain. The blue light emitted from these screens may contribute to fatigue, dry eyes and discomfort.

Insufficient Breaks

Failing to take regular breaks during extended periods of visual tasks, like reading or working on a computer, can strain the eye muscles.

Inadequate Lighting

Poor lighting, whether it’s too much or too little, can strain the eyes. Insufficient lighting may lead to squinting and difficulty in focusing, while excessive brightness can cause glare and discomfort.

Ignoring Regular Eye Check-ups

Neglecting routine eye examinations may result in undetected vision problems or eye conditions. Early detection and management of issues can prevent further damage and maintain good eye health.

Smoking

Smoking has been linked to an increased risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataracts and other eye diseases. The harmful substances in tobacco smoke can damage the blood vessels in the eyes and contribute to vision problems.

Sleep Deprivation

Inadequate or poor-quality sleep can affect overall health, including eye health. Lack of sleep may lead to eye twitching, dry eyes and blurry vision. Establishing a consistent sleep routine and getting enough rest is essential for maintaining optimal eye health.
